Simple And Direct (SAD) Mentalism
Ok -
Tue Aug 12 12:02:49 2008
Delivers what the acronym promises, unfortunately
This project tanks as early as the foreword--written by a friend of two weeks, with no apparent knowledge of mentalism, whose commendation has little to do with the book! Neither the author nor the publisher copy-edited the book. The reader will experience the many misspellings, clumsy sentences, and the sentences without a capitalized first letter as the equivalent of listening to a speaker with spinach between his teeth and an unzipped fly; the appearance obscures the content. As I waded through the chaos to study the effects, I found several that fit my interests and were promising, but they were NOT as "simple" and "direct" as advertised. Since I no longer have the bookcase space for keeping everything, I tossed this one. I hope, however, that people who experienced the book differently will also submit reviews.

Outstanding! -

If you work with loops, this dvd set is a necessity...
First of all, if you're not working with loops, you're really missing out.....and this dvd set is truly worth every cent and much. much more. Fin Jon and Yigal Mesika do a marvelous job in explaining the art of using loops effectively. They also provide great instruction on how to do some absolutely mind-blowing routines. Don't pass up this dvd set. If you're working with or want to work with loops, order these without hesitation. You won't be disappointed.

Making the Birthday Dough DVD
Average -
Thu Aug 7 7:41:04 2008
Just ok
As many of you, I have seen a lot of DVDs and videos and have read a lot of books. Ken Scott's Making The birthday Dough is just ok. It starts out with his show which is 30-45 minutes (I have not times it so I might be wrong). In his show I liked his opening bit with music and the birthday child. As far as the show goes it is a typical birthday show and nothing spectacular. Then you get to sit down with Ken and another gentleman and they talk for a while. I did learn some stuff, but nothing too ground breaking. After reading Silly Billy's book I think that I've become accustomed to outstanding performance pieces for kid shows and now hold myself and other entertainers to higher standards. Nothing new on this DVD, but nice to see another performers show.
